European Stocks decline at the Closing Session

European stocks closed declining paring yesterday's gains as non-farm payroll report in the U.S. showed increase in unemployment causing pessimism in markets and lowering demand on risky assets.

 

The French CAC 40 Index fell 100.59 points or 3.13% to close at 3116.41 levels, the index reached the highest point at 3200.75 and the lowest point at 3116.41, by closing all the 40 shares that declined.

 

The index added and slashed points based on the performance of the upcoming stocks; the stocks cutting the most points from the index were Total SA stock as it fell €1.48 or 0.60% to cut 18.65 points and close at €37.77, then came BNP Paribas share as it declined €1.54 or 3.26% slashing 7.44 points from the index as it closed at €48.85, finally the AXA SA share fell €0.75 or 5.42% taking from the index with 6.61 points as it closed at €13.01.

 

The German DAX Index declined 186.95 points or 3.81% to close at 4718.49 levels, the index reached the highest point at 4891.00 and the lowest point at 4718.49, by closing there were 1 share that inclined while 29 shares declined.

 

The index added and slashed points based on the performance of the upcoming stocks; the stocks cutting the most points to the index were the Siemens AG  stock as it fell €2.68 or 5.34% to reduce 24.88 points and close at €47.50, then came E.ON AG share as it declined €1.07 or 4.20% slashing 20.07 points from the index and close at €24.42, finally the Volkswagen AG share declined €19.36 or 7.80% cutting from the index with 19.00 points as it closed at €228.85.

 

Now we see that the index added points due to Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co share as it rose €0.29 or 0.90% to add 0.62 points to the index as it closed at €32.51.

 

The British FTSE 100 Index plummeted 106.44 points or 2.45% to close at 4234.27 levels, the index reached the highest point at 4340.71 and the lowest point at 4230.76, by closing 4 shares inclined while 98 shares declined.

 

The index added and slashed points based on the performance of the upcoming stocks; the stocks cutting the most points from the index were the Vodafone Group PLC stock as it declined £4.00 or 3.35% to cut 8.30 points from the index as it closed at £115.50, then came Rio Tinto PLC as it dropped £123.00 or 5.70% costing the index 7.41 points and closing at £2.35.00, finally the Royal Dutch Shell PLC share declined £51.00 or 3.28% subtracting 7.14 points from the index and closing at £1504.00.

 

Yet the index rose due to the were Diageo PLC stock as it inclined £8.00 or 0.89% to add 0.79 points and close at £905.00, then came Petrofac Ltd share as it spiked £3.50 or 0.52% adding to the index 0.04 points and close at £683.00, finally the Friends Provident Group PLC share jumped £0.12 or 0.18% providing the index with 0.01 points as it closed at £68.09.
